A responsible approach for travel suggests:
- Honour our hosts and our common heritage Research the destination, learn a few words in the local language and always ask before taking photos.
- Protect the planet– Protect the wildlife, don´t purchase products from endangered species, reduce your water & energy consumption and minimize the carbon footprint you leave behind.
- Support the local economy by using local suppliers and by buying local products to a fair price, hire local guides with deep knowledge of the area.
- Be an informed traveller– Take appropriate Health& Safety precautions before the trip, inform yourself about local health care and embassy in case of an emergency, research well before engaging in “volontourism”, chose a tour operator with environmental policies and social projects in place.
- Be a respectful traveller Observe national laws, respect human rights and protect children from abuse. Refrain from giving money to begging children and support community project instead.
